2019- 16th September - Weekend Away

16th September
Just catching up with the washing for Monday but a bit more than usual as just been away for the weekend with hubby to Blackpool.

Since selling the caravan last year, it is nice to get away for short breaks instead of just one week's holiday.

Friday -
Arrived about 5pm, staying in the same hotel as last year, on the sea front, just a short walk from the centre of Blackpool, but new management and sadly more shabby than chic these days.

No evening meal in the hotel restaurant these days, so we found a lovely pub/restaurant called The Gynn and had lovely fish and chips for tea.

followed by a walk on the promenade watching the sunset, then later watching a lovely fireworks display. Sorry forgot to take photo's, most of the time when we go out for the day we enjoy what we are doing and I update the blog when we get back.

Saturday...
View from the restaurant while we sat enjoying a cooked breakfast

then a morning stroll along the promenade.

Then back to hotel room to freshen up to catch the tram into Blackpool, cheaper than car parking, tickets for the two of us was just £4.80

Saturday afternoon...
I had pre-booked tickets to go into Madame Tussaud's, there were lots of new exhibits since we last visited in 2015 as well as some old favourites!

and the obligatory souvenir photo!

Then an early meal in the pub round the corner called The Gynn and quick change back at the hotel and caught the tram (a modern one as the original ones seem to be few and far between these days)

Just a five minute walk to the Grand Theatre on Saturday evening having booked tickets earlier for a stage show called "Woman In Black".

It was a really good show

edit - ordered the dvd version with Daniel Radcliffe in, you might have heard of him!

After the show ended, we had a McDonald's and then caught a tram back to the car park and drove through the lights at 11pm, there are some new ones to look at every year as well as some old favourites at the Bispham end.

Sunday, left the hotel around 11am and packed the car up, the traffic was already busy, but we had tickets booked for the Tower Eye but after queueing for two hours and only got as far as the lift, we had enough and asked the attendant to show us out.

Blackpool was just really busy, so we decided to go into Lytham st Anne's and had Sunday dinner in a Toby Carvery, then a short afternoon stroll on the promenade before coming home.

A lovely short break away

Jo
