2024 - Tuesday 7th May...bathroom sink part 2

It was a bank holiday yesterday, didn't even notice as hubby was working, just felt like a normal day.

well homeserve plumber no 2 arrived about 1pm and just took one look at the bathroom sink and said they are old taps, nothing much I can do......really, they were new taps last friday when fitted.

and apart from fixing the leak underneath, he didn't do anything to the taps...yet the putty underneath the taps is solid, so how come the cold tap is leaking then?

hoping the video will work, this is how the taps have been since last friday...

(no it hasn't worked) so here is a photo of the taps...

anyway these are the 'new taps' which are spluttering and spurting and stiff to turn off (for me anyway) but others can turn them off, so that's okay then isn't it ( sarky tone of voice!)

apparently both of the taps replacing even though two years ago, new washers were put in and greased and have been okay till recently...and we have been warned that the sink could cracked putting new ones but then we have to buy a new sink and then find a reliable plumber to fit it...

the plumber from last friday apparently has kept the old spindles and taps ( erm why, if they have seized?)  and the plumber from today says he will get on touch with him and then soak then in a bucket of WD40 and then is booked to come back Thursday afternoon to put them back in...

Edit - just remember something the plumber said, that the spluttering and the leak are probably something to do with the hot water tank...

...erm really, so that would be the tank that was taken out in 2015 and replaced with a combi boiler then?

update to follow...
