2026 - 29th April - Kitt at the vets...

Morning this is Kitt, she is 18 and yesterday had a yearly vet check, vaccinations and vet says she is in pain due to periodontal disease and mentioned surgery for dental work quoted £700 so can’t afford it, vet then said then to think about euthanasia, hubby was in a state when he got back Anyway she ate four small portions of wet food till we went to bed, no meowing, crying or yowling, litter tray, grooming, behaviour etc all normal, vet given loxicom (without even weighing her)  not very clear how to use the medication or how long for, so thinking of a second opinion....

She was alert and fussing for breakfast, had a drink of water , no vomiting , when hubby strokes under her chin , no reaction no hissing or swiping or any indication she is in pain…to get to her bed she goes upstairs and then she jumps up so no mobility problems at all oh according to the vet her fur is scruffy as well…

I posted this on Threads and most people were supportive and helpful but there is always one...

"Fucking sell your soul and get her the help she needs. She gave you 18 years of devotion and you can’t get her a dental!!!! Put it on a goddamn credit card. How sickening humans are. Fundraise for god sakes. HELP HER. "

this was my reply...

So I’m a sickening human, she was my sons cat he couldn’t afford to keep her so we took her in at 7 months old there is no need to talk to me like dirt I don’t deserve it I came on here for advice 😒

erm duh, don;t you think if we had £700 but then again as she is 18, would she survive the anaesthetic anyway...

Found this on Google and one vet wanted to do £2-£4k of investigations to decide to euthanasie a cat!!
