New Year Resolutions - Fat and Finances

Well it's that time of the year to make resolutions, mainly to lose weight and sort finances out...

Just read articles in the Daily Mirror...
how someone has 8 credit cards and pays half his wages out
https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/teacher-told-pay-half-wages-21225739

and another about 'persistent debt'
https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/thousands-set-credit-cards-suspended-21216749

and another article about sorting out your debts
https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/how-take-control-your-cash-21213852

been there done that...

1) buy a pair of scissors and cut up any credit cards.

2) contact step change - https://www.stepchange.org/
or citizens advice - https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/

3) you've heard it before... but do a budget - this is a good one, in plain english and easy to follow

4) you've heard it before... but don't buy what you don't need

5) you've heard it before... buy second hand, furniture, clothes, we just buy new shoes and underwear

6) Only heard of these recently...
Salary Finance - https://www.salaryfinance.com/uk/ - you borrow enough to pay off a credit card and then pay the loan back from your wages...

*example - a balance of £2,684 owed - monthly payment - £180 which includes an extra payment mentioned in the articles above to stop persistent debt

*pay back £19 a week direct from wages for the next three years, debt paid off, no more interest, no more worrying

7) lots of info on the Internet on debts and finance, just do what is best for your family and circumstances, everyone's is different.

Two ways of paying debts off is mentioned here

8) Lose weight - eat less, move more but easier said than done, you might have health issues or mobility issues, you can do walking for free, or join well known slimming companies for support, again lots of info on the internet, whatever works best for you.

9) Just search 'debt tracker' into google, for Apps and spreadsheet to help you get started
