2026- 3rd June - Kitt, the day after...

Fetched Kitt home from the vet yesterday around 4.30pm after having the infected side claw removed completely under sedation, the vet tried to trim her claws by wrapping her in a towel but Kitt was very upset and distressed so it was talked over with the vet and had to sign a consent form, the vet checked her heart and we were talked through the form, bear in mind Kitt is 18, so we had a very worrying hour waiting

she didn't have any food till 9pm last night and has been very thirsty overnight, but had some breakfast, 50g wet food, senior, more than what she usually has, shes been snoozing most of the day in the stripe igloo on the sideboard so shes jumped up, so mobility ok, had a bit of wet food and some dry food at dinner time, went back for another snooze then awake at 3pm wanting some more food!

shes seems more settled than she was, the claw has been taken out completely, leucillin spray arrived and just sprayed her paw about an hour ago, so im not flavour of the month any more lol , even the vet at has emailed to see how she is doing and want the next update in a weeks time.

the total cost of this was just £70 compared with the previous vet the other month who said she was in severe pain and wanted to do a dental under anasthetic, the cost was £700, hubby said we could not afford it so the vet then implied that Kitt should be euthanised!

Other things as well...the issues weren’t one small mistake. They were multiple small-to-medium mistakes that all happened in the same appointment:

  • missed cataract
  • missed embedded claw
  • unsafe Loxicom dosing
  • inaccurate notes
  • exaggerated dental findings
  • unnecessary euthanasia mention
  • creation of a PTS estimate without your request
  • no vaccine sticker
  • no insurance discussion
  • no payment plan offered
  • no cheaper alternatives suggested
Now we have found a better vet who is bothered about animals and not the money, so that seems to be rare these days.
