2025 - 18th February - todays humming update...(yawn)

So the washer changed on hot tap in kitchen yesterday and the stop cock was stuck on!

So last night finally got to sleep about 4am, the humming/vibration noise was really bad yesterday started about 6.50pm and continued all night, I can even hear it with cotton wool in my ears!

got up about 8am and the noise started about 10.20am today

I booked Homeserve out for today and he came out about 3pm,

both washers changed on taps on bathroom sink and new white U bend bit under bathroom sink (plumber says the rubber has perished, can't complain really as the bathroom was put in around 1970 so done well then

the noise seemed to go off slightly when the stop cock into the house was turned off but was worse after he had replaced the washer on the tap ( which stopped the humming vibration noise last year when there was a problem with the tap, going to have to pay for a plumber I think next...

So a month later and still no wiser at what this humming/vibration noise, had boiler serviced, electrician out for kitchen light twice (homeserve) then a third (paid) electrician who said the fuse box = £650 plus VAT) and all the sockets etc through the house would need to tested (so we have to move all furniture out of way -good luck with that! = £180 plus VAT ( paid) ,

So what next?

Stop cock into house ( water pressure?)

and the ball cock when flushing the toilet,

time now - 17.50pm - and the vibration is just starting and is worse when the central heating is off - which doesn't make sense...

Edit - 19.30pm - just gone to have a bath and turned on the cold water tap on the bath and it sounded like a machine gun! So water hammer???

So the third appointment this week is booked for tomorrow...
